Salvete Amici!

Salvete!

Wow, after one week at Nationals at Eastern Kentucky University, I’m on a JCL frenzy right now! Here’s an update on some current events (JCL style) for those of you who had to skip Convention.

Erika Russ, KJCL President, was successful in her campaign, and now she has become the NJCL 1st Vice President!! While we are all very excited for her new job, she had to resign her post. Therefore, I’ve taken over as KJCL President, and Malory Thelen of CLS has become the new KJCL 1st Vice President! Despite the many changes that are taking place, our board is still very excited for the rest of the JCL year!

The Kentucky Delegation was a huge hit at NJCL! Since we hosted Convention this year, it was our responsibility to direct guests to their dorms, set up the stage, and make sure that everything went on schedule. I want to thank everyone from the delegation for the hard work they put in during the week! You guys did a great job! The extra workload didn’t stop us from working hard a Spirit, though. In addition to a Daily Spirit Award, Kentucky placed 3rd overall in the Middle States’ Division! We also won a plethora of school and individual awards! Overall, NJCL 2011 was a huge success!

Now, we get to look to the next school year! Mark your calendars all! KJCL Convention will be held February 3-5, 2012! I hope you guys are getting as excited as I am! Also, start getting ready for our Fall Forum which we’ll hold before the end of this year. All of your JCLers out there make me proud to be a part of this organization everyday! To stay in touch, join our Facebook page or keep your eye out for this website (kyjcl.com)!

Stay classy, classicists,

Kevin Grout
KJCL President
